clipper round the world

“Change Your Commute” … Indeed.

The curious sight of four large, seemingly fast sailboats from my 31st floor perch at work drew me to the Bell Street Pier late yesterday afternoon. The Clipper Round the World boats have been in Seattle after completing the 6th leg, Quingdao, China to Seattle.

Yesterday was the last day the boats were open for tours. As neat as it was to explore the boats and see the preparations for the next leg, meeting some of the crew was even better. More than a handful of the crew members are sailing around the world. Crewing even one leg would be an incredible experience and quite the accomplishment!

The 7th leg, Seattle to New York City, starts Thursday and I’ll be following the 10th race, Seattle to Panama, closely!

Respect and good luck to the teams!

Note: When I start making noises about applying to crew the 2018 race I’ll need someone to “reality check” me.
