One Pru

One Prudential Plaza was the first skyscraper built in Chicago after the Great Depression and World War II. One of many buildings (the Merchandise Mart and the old Main Post Office are two examples) built using the concept of “air rights”. The land below the building is owned by the Illinois Central Railroad who then sells or leases the “air” above.
