bridge lift

Boating Season

It’s always neat to watch the bridges on the Chicago river open, like locks, to allow the sail boats and tugs navigate the river on their way out to Lake Michigan.

Yesterday’s scene was a bit ironic: the locks on the Dearborn Street were jammed, which caused a bit of a back up for a time. After the bridges were lifted for nine days, the scene caused some chortling from the folks I was standing near on the Wabash Ave. bridge.
