Hometown News
When I arrived in Seattle, way back in ’97, stopping in the newsstand at the corner of 1st and Pike to pick up a St. Petersburg Times helped me stay connected to the paper I worked for and the people and community I missed as I began life in Seattle. Browsing through the newsstand was also the beginning of a now a daily Seattle ritual: walking through the Market on my way home from work.
From Nicole Brodeur’s interview with Lee’s daughter, Aana, “Standing on the corner of First and Pike is not an easy hustle,” she said. “He could use a nap.”
You will be missed, Lee Lauckhart, and I hope you get a good nap and a whole bunch of travel.
