The Smith Tower opened on July 3, 1914. 38 (or so…) stories towering over Seattle, the tallest building West of the Mississippi until the Space Needle was completed in 1962.
38 stories, 462 feet.
I enjoy walking around Pioneer Square finding obscured, “peek-a-boo”, views of the building. Below, a couple of images made on Memorial Day, 2016, around Yesler Way and Washington Street.


This is wonderful — to see Smith Tower is always a pleasure, and from unexpected angles (because I don’t diligently seek like you do)
