Monroe – 55th St S.

Adventures on bikes!

Snapshots from our ride from Monroe Street to Promontory Point along the Lakefront trail on the 4th of July.

Our original plan was a leisurely bike ride to Promontory Point and back before taking in a view of the fireworks in the Western sky from a great pal’s deck.

Naturally, we made the most of the day: stopping at Northerly Island, formerly Meigs Field, and lounging along the Lakefront, taking in the panoramic views of Lake Michigan.

We extended our ride to 55th St. S., then into Hyde Park for a walk through the picnics and parks and lunch at Nando’s Peri-Peri, very tasty Afro-Portuguese! We also spied the corner where a certain attorney and law student had their first date.

The crowds gather and grill at Promontory Point. Certainly a fabulous view point for the fireworks show at Navy Pier later in the evening!

A very smart, and stubborn, Giant Schnauzer cooling off.
Another un-paired, lost children’s show.
